Need cell for 80+yr old Mom

by Patty09 / March 5, 2007 11:23 AM PST

She needs a phone. I have shown her several but the key pads are too small. She also has arthritis. I'd like one without a contract.

I know I'm asking for a Miracle but I am asking.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Thanks from Patty09's Mom

what else does she want?
by gamedreamer / March 6, 2007 11:26 PM PST

What else does she want in a phone? Need a camera? There are some kids phones that have large buttons but little other functionality.

I saw a Nokia that had buttons almost the size of laptop letter key. Not sure where I saw it, might have been in a Cingular store.

Have you looked into the Jitterbug? I've seen commercials for that phone and it seems to be tailor-made for an elderly person that is not used to the whole cell phone bit. I'm pretty sure they have a website.

The website is gojitterbug.com.
The phone has larger buttons and has two models to choose from. One with only three main buttons which serves for emergencies and the other with all the numbers and two other buttons. The site says that plans start out at $10/month. The coverage area appears to be adequate in the U.S. I have no personal experience with this product but, who knows? Cnet just MIGHT have a review! Happy hunting Wink

She saw the ad and I looked. I think it is a little out of our price range. It may start at $10 but it goes UP from there.
Thanks - I'll keep looking

Thanks for the info. She just wants a phone. She doesn't want anything fancy. I'll look on the Nokia site for the large button phone. That might just do the trick for her. We shall see.
