Need camera recommendations for my 7 year old daughter, pls

Apr 15, 2005 1:56AM PDT

Hello -

I am looking to buy a digital camera for my 7 year old daughter, who has been asking for one for about a year. I occasionally let her use my olympus D-520 and she has no problem figuring it out and taking good care of it, but she really wants her own.

I'm afraid we can't spend many hundreds of dollars on it -- but what is the best introductory camera? At this point we're mostly looking for something that won't break after a few months. She doesn't need a lot of features or even high resolution at this point. The only real requirement is a screen to view the pictures as she's taking them and afterwards.

Could someone please make a recommendation or two? I've looked on Amazon and Consumer Reports and I'm overwhelmed.

Thanks so much.

Look at Ebay

Currently there are 16 Olympus D-520 cameras on Ebay, two from Olympus with a warranty. Based on my experience with Ebay, I would guess these cameras sell for well under $100.

Why not buy her one just like you have and she is familiar with?
