The Canon A60 should suit your needs and for a modest sum.

It has a 3x zoom and is 2 megapixels.
It is a step above the simple point-and-shoot cameras.
It has manual over-rides for every control.
Or it can function in auto mode and be as simple as a point-and-shoot camera.

It is available at for $175

There is a full review of the camera at:

Note: The review is for the A60/A70 family.
They are identical except the A70 is 3 megapixels.

The camera will come with 4 AA batteries.
You can go to Wal-Mart and buy 4 AA NiMH batteries with a charger for $10. This will save you money in the long-run.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
