Question

Need calendar able to create a template for date calculation

Jul 12, 2016 5:40PM PDT

Please, recommend an affordable calendar with function to create a template for calculation of project stages dates. There is a process which consists of events A, B, C and D. Date A comes irregularly and unpredictably. Date B is, say, 7 days after date A. Date C is, for example, 10 days from the date B. And D is a deadline calculated from date A. I need, by entering A, to get the rest of the dates shown in a calendar (as opposed to excel spreadsheet) and to be able to change the dates: if B, say, happens ahead of schedule I need to be able to move it and C should change automatically. The whole process is repeated many times but the intervals between the stages are always initially the same, that is why I need a template. Usually there are several processes going on simultaneously, at the same or different stages. Does anyone know a calendar which would show me all the necessary dates and deadlines? Preferably for Windows 7, but Android app or a web-based service will do too. Thank you.

Answer
This sounds like project management.

But I am encountering folk that want it much simpler or free. As an old Project user this still sounds like project management to me.

Maybe

It probably is. But it is for my personal use and I need it to be presented in a form of a calendar. I need usual calendar features as well (like to be able to set an event which repeats weekly or monthly). Can you recommend anything affordable?

I guess you can research this

As no calendar I've seen is that smart, I think you are still looking at project managers that show the calendar as a report or view.

And yes I've heard folk want a simple calendar but for that, you just use a calendar in Word or Excel and move your bars around.

I will try, thank you

I am not sure if I know Word or Excel well enough to achieve the necessary functionality. All the dates are already in Excel but you are right, I wanted something more visual. I will try, thank you for the advice.

Forgot to add how I would search for this.
