Question

Need cable recommend connect TL-WN772N to my OPO phone.

Jul 19, 2017 1:37AM PDT

Hi.
I have a wifi TP-Link TL-WN722N wireless adapter used for connecting my laptop to the internet via Kali Linux. Would like to flash Kali Linux NetHunter on my OnePlusOne phone using the same 722N wifi adapter. But I need a cable to attach the phone to my the wifi Dongle.
(Q)
Can someone recommend a USB OTG cable to connect my TP-Link TL-WN722N with my OnePlusOne phone?
My 722N adapter has 4 pins.

Would this work (see link)?

Thanks.
TC.

Re: cable

That's a standard USB A to mini USB cable. It comes with many devices, such as a camera or a GPS or an mp3-player or a phone (if it doesn't use micro USB or a proprietary connection) to connect the device to a PC or laptop. No need to buy one if you or one of your friends already has such a cable to try,

Even if it fits your devices, there's no guarantee at all it will work for what you want. That might need the right drivers or software.

@Kees_B
If this is the standard as you said, will not work. I have the standard. Cannot connect wifi dongle to phone. I believe I am looking for a male micro-B usb plug at one end and a female usb-A plug at the other. I want my OPO phone to be the Host. Is it refereed to as a OTG connector? Not sure? I will also recheck if my phone does have the necessary drivers. I believe it does for this model.

Thanks.

All laptops and all phones I know come with WiFi built in and don't need a USB adapter for that. Are you sure you need one? Then buy the one recommended in the user manual of your phone.

Answer
As noted, drivers are an issue.

You may get it connected but I see no drivers at TP-Link for Android.

Since the OnePlusOne already has WiFi I would be guessing why you are doing this.

There were some success stories with TP-Link & Android

The wifi card(chip) in OnePlus One is not compatible using Linux. That is why I am trying the external wifi dongle that worked for my laptop.
I have read some success stories in XDA & Git Hub forums using TP-Link TlWn722N with NetHunter (Linux) on One Plus One Phone. It did allow linux commands to be exe from the terminal. Some failed using a incorrect cable or flashing outdated or incorrect Kernel for their device.

I think you left out a lot of details.

No one can guess you are installing Linux or other OSes. Since you are on XDA finding success, be sure to ask them where they got the cable.
