Since I can't guess what models are in your market.

Let's hear from you what models you found so members can see what stands out.

-> WHY THE AVERSION TO SSD? Our office is now converting as we can due to the benefits.

Acer Aspire Nitro VN7-591G-73Y5

some stuff seemed within budget & sumwhat close to needs (when chkd offline) :
(couldn't find any quad core in my budget here though)

Noticed how speed drops off the mains?

"AMD's latest R9 375 with 4 GB dedicated RAM, just awesome and no lag anywhere when connected to Mains Power line."

That's true with most if not all models since battery time would be in minutes not hours.

The Inspirons here have "acceptable" displays. For me I don't care for them and for graphics work you may end up with inaccurate colors. My nod is to the Lenovo. pegged at #305 of best sellers so it must be doing something right. is a full review of a similar model so I expect the same/similar results as the model you noted with slight upgrades on gaming performance but as you can see it's not for gamers.

Configurations as available
Hi thanks for reverting.... I'm actually more impressed by Dell Inspiron stuff here, though not aware of color issues you mentioned. Also not aware of performance reviews of any of these options. Plz have a look at these specs again ...& possibly do suggest better performer in terms of work than in games ...Let me also know if you have any quad core options in mind. Thanks

That 6 hours and weight are not found today.

Here's the deal. When we use the laptop the battery time plummets. Let's look at an example i7 with GPU laptop to see what happens.

Let's read from

So to hit your 6 hours the battery needs to be about 4 times bigger. No laptop in this class so far has delivered 6 hours under load.

There's another issue with using the battery. These batteries are only 300 cycle rated. Yes you may get a year or two of daily use and charging but between the issue I noted here and that they don't last too long, the battery is still for use in a pinch. When I want to work I find an outlet.
