Even the shuffle did that. And even if you had to install the same MP3 2 times and set it to random it would in essence repeat it over and over. There must be same, similar tricks we can do with 8 out of 10 players.
Remember these forums are all volunteer. I think your next stop should be an Apple Store and have them show you it working.

I am not MP3 savvy so I thought I'd ask here. I have a learning disabled child that the therapist recommended having her listen to some things over and over. Having her press repeat herself is not an option. I would like to get an MP3 as it would be smaller than a CD player to carry around with us to appoinments and such but I need it to replay whatever I select until I tell it to stop and it needs to play more than one selection so I can switch what it repeats as needed. I don't want it to ever switch selections on it;s own. I basically need it to act like a Cd player. I also need to be able to but my own recordings on it. Like if I make a homemade audio file of me speaking I need to be able to upload it to the MP3 and then select repeat for that track. I would need it to hold about 10 homemade 3 minute tracks. It would be a bonus if it would also hold audio books, but those wouldn't have to be on repeat. I hope I haven't totally confused everyone. Also I'd like it to be affordable. A child is going to be using it 90% of the time so not having paid an arm nd a leg will help in case she accidently breaks it. Please let me know if there is something like this. I don't have time to research it right now and she really needs this item ASAP, to continue her auditory therapy.
Thanks
