Need an external hard drive for storing tax documents...

I am looking for a external hard drive for the sole purpose of storing all my tax documents and receipts for 10 years at a time. I want to be able to simply scan and save these . pdf documents, trash all my paper copies and be done with it. Any suggestions?

There is none that I would trust to that.

For now I'm putting mine to CD/DVD media and each year I file, I create 2 new CD/DVDs to add to the collection.

Since a HDD can be erased in seconds by accident or too much else, I would never consider this as a solution.

CD/DVD media for storing tax documents

I never considered that as an option, that would be far less expensive then purchasing an external hard drive and a hand-held scanner.
