If you want a 17" Pentium M desktop replacement consider the HPZD7000 - the dedicated forum to read about that model from users and to find about all the discounts is at zd7000forums.com.
Pentium M (Centrino) notebooks give better battery life and portability but they top out at 15.4" --
Apple has the 17" Powerbook at 6.9 pounds but that is $2800 or over.
At the very least you can order the HPZD7000 online at hpshopping and get the $100 custom order rebate good through 12/1/04 -- there are also a 6% student APP discount, a 3% Fatcash rebate (sent later) if you sign up and go through their portal to hpshopping, etc... read the forum for details.......
I have a toshiba laptop P25 series right now that I have to replace because there is some hardware problems. The store is out of this model and I am thinking about getting a different brand. (this is the second toshiba I have had that has had problems and am getting leary of toshiba)
I am mostly using it for photoshop photo editing and internet use. The specs I am thinking about is a 17" screen, wireless modem. In the price range of about 1800. I do want a fast processor for possible video editing and would like a dvd +/- writer.
