NEED ADVICE: PDA vs. Smartphone + PIM software

Feb 8, 2008 10:24AM PST

I need help sorting through PDA vs. Smartphone and PIM software. I have too many places where I'm trying to store contact and calendar info and want to avoid the clutter.

My issue is this:
I have a Palm T|X which I like but it's starting to show it's age. The WiFi feature is useless in the building I work in and that was the main feature I bought it for. Alot of my contact info and almost all my calendar info is on the Palm OS.

I have goosync for my Palm and my google calendar.

I have a Samsung SCH-U740 phone w/ Verizon Wireless. All my phone numbers are backed up on thier web site and I can access Google Calendar from my phone but it's hard to read.

I'm starting to use google calendar more and more but can't get it to sync w/ my Palm.

I run windows Vista Premium at home w/ Outlook express for e-mail.

At work we have Lotus Notes 6.5 and I would really like to be able to export my calendar from LN to one of my other devices.

My options that I know of are:

--find a PIM software than can sync w/ Palm-Outlook Express-Google_LN and just double entry for my phone.

--get a smartphone w/ desktop PIM that I can transfer everything over to that.

--scrap everything and go back to pen and paper.

Any advice - about smartphones, PIMs, Syncing, anything would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for any help - I'm lost.

If I were you, I would back up all e-mail, contact, etc and buy a new smartphone.

smartphone w/ decent PIM?
Feb 14, 2008 8:35AM PST

That's sounding more and more like the best solution. Now my goal is to find a smartphone w/ a decent PIM and preferably a desktop version also - any ideas?

Thanks for the advice.
