I say you chose the right processor
you're going to need 2GB or ram and a confortable hard drive. 7200 RPM is best.
Choose the Dell Inspiron 9300 because it's the most customizeable. There are others but they'll stick a whole bunch of uneccesary expensive stuff on it.
I'm doing research in EU for the next year and need a notebook to take with me. It must be able to effectively run multiple office-type programs (access, excel, word, etc.) along with graphic design and video editing programs for focus groups I'll be conducting. AND I need to be able to carry it very easily, so I'd prefer <6lbs.
I know a few basics - Pentium M 700 series+, 533mHz bus, brightview screen, DVD RW... but I have no clue what manufacturer would be best for the least money (since I am a student). OR should just go with a Mac and forget about it?
I'm leaving in less than a month, so your suggestions are greatly appreciated!
