Need Advice On Computer Issue!

May 4, 2014 11:22AM PDT

So yesterday I had my headphones and mic plugged into my desktop, and my friend tripped over both cords and caused the plugs that they where in to like pop out or something and now they won't stay in/or connect. So should I replace this part? (If so whats the name....) Or should I try and fix it? I already tried taking the front of the case off and detaching the whole bar of USB ports and such, but I couldn't access the plugs. Advice Needed!!!

I built it myself and I tried to take off the panel but I couldn't get access to the inside of the panel because of wiring and such.

remove front of case.

short link

Here's the blow up of it and you can see the front panel is off. I could see the plastic posts from the front panel which are screwed from inside the case to it. Just remove those and you can get at it all from the back of the case.

I'm off to bed now for the night.

I think its the front panel, but it doesn't look like your's. The audio jacks are the things that broke. Mine has the power button and fan control on it as well..... I am really not sure how to go about this.

choices

If only those plugs are messed up, maybe you can bend them back into shape on the backside. Otherwise use a bay and put in a bay card and put it's audio plug where the current one is on the motherboard. If you want the whole front of the case off, you'd have to take off the sides and then look inside back at the case and 3-4 screws will be there which detach the front cover of the case.

that's not an industry standard part

comes only with that case. Best you can do is try and repair it, or if it can't be repaired to work with what's there, have new plugs from radio shack soldered onto the board. If it's not repairable at low cost, I'd go with a bay card which has the same plugs and more, just swap the audio plugs on mobo, and if able, plug in the USB to the mobo headers and whatever it offers for use on the front such as Flash card reader or extra USB ports.
