General discussion

need a unusual mp3 player

Aug 10, 2010 8:15AM PDT

My son has a need for an unusual mp3 player. Suggestions are welcome, please.

It must NOT have wireless capability, FM tuner or voice record option. It doesn't have to have video playback either.
It SHOULD have at least 8 GB (though more would be better) or a SD slot. Also, he would prefer it have an internal speaker.
He mostly wants to use it to hear recorded talks. Long battery life is desirable too.

Thanks in advance.

Hello there. You may want to check the Creative Zen V Plus. It should be going for less than $100 over at e-bay.

I'm not too sure if it doesn't have voice record, because there are two models for the Z V plus. The older batch (This oneHappy

Does not come with video playback functions or microphone (If I remember correctly)

Both players do not come with an internal speaker unfortunately. Battery life is at least 12 hours or so.

mp3 player with fm
Aug 13, 2010 2:32AM PDT

MP3 Players with FM are almost standard now. For example nearly everything in the Archos line has FM. You could potentially take the Archos 5, https://store.archos.com/archos-internet-tablet-p-90.html which is a touchscreen mp3 player that runs Android. You would have to root it and uninstall the fm, wireless, and recorder features. It comes in capacities starting at 16 GB version and has an SD slot and an internal speaker.
But why go through the hassle? Why does it need such restrictions?
