I want to download a sound driver to my laptop .

How do I know the the exact laptop model I have?
Where can I find a driver?
I have windows XP

Hi Try downloading Belarc advisor It's free and will give you all the details of your motherboard and connected devices and currently running sofware.Everest home edition is another that can be usefull too.Once you id your sound device google it and go from there.Good luck-Cheers john

I get my SERVICE TAG number off the laptop and I'm at dell.com in seconds.

But my driver is not for your laptop. The service tab numbers are unique to the laptop.

fix for audio issues

> go to support.dell.com
> click "support for home user / start here"
> click "Drivers and downloads"
> select service tag
> type in your system service tag " which you will be able find at the bottom of the system on white label, it's a 7digit alphanumeric code"
> click submit
> select the operating system on which your system is working
> scroll down and select audio driver
> download and install the driver
> once installation is over, restart the system
