Small Camera = Weak Flash
by PistonCupChampion / March 2, 2011 2:28 AM PST

Most professional review sites concentrate on "real" cameras, so there is not a lot of testing done on the lowest end of the market. The least expensive camera I can find with a review is the Canon A3100 IS. Regardless, you should know that all small cameras have very weak flashes. At best, you could illuminate a subject 10-12 feet away, but only if the zoom lens is set to its widest angle. If you zoom in with the lens, the flash output drops substantially usually to about 6 feet.
