Resolved Question

Need a replacement DVD player

by Chigal48 / August 9, 2013 1:07 PM PDT

My DVD player just went out on me. It was old. I need a replacement, but not sure what features I should be looking for.

What resolution?
What output/input?
I don't have blu-ray DVDs, should I buy a Blu-ray machine?

Will be shopping Sunday, thanks.

For me

It would depend if I had a HDTV. Most BR BD players UPCONVERT and put the video on HDMI so I want that.

As to DVD players the last time I was at the shops I would find 1 DVD player so you would not find any choices so with the market place offering one model (I saw this at 5+ stores!) you might be thinking about what your choices were years ago.

I bought a DVD with HDMI so we'll see if that works.

The recurring complaint I hear about this one

Is how CC support is hit and miss. Before it was mandated but in the rush to HD, they dropped the ball.

I would have bought a BluRay player

even if you don't have any. It will upconvert your DVDs and make them look better and I bet sometime in the future you will buy BluRays or someone might bring one over to watch, etc. But you can probably find DVD players for less than $40 now if you can even find any.

output/input. You got something in mind that we can't think of? Anyway, dvd player or BD player, they are very reasonably priced.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
