Need a new surround sound receiver--suggestions?

Hi,

It look like my TEAC AG-D8900 5.1 receiver is broken and not worth servicing. I'm extremely tight on funds. Can anyone suggest a very affordable 5.1 receiver that has enough inputs/outputs for me? I have a TV, Satellite, Dgital Music (ipod interface), VCR, DVD and CD player. Currently, I have three S-Video inputs. Does Costco have a really cheap one available? Thanks for any input/suggestions you can offer.

cheap to one person

is expensive to another... so not sure what you mean by cheap.

last time i was at costco, they had a very nice h/k receiver for a great price (about 250), but not sure if you'll consider it cheap. it'll outperform about any other receiver in that price range.

Now that looks like a pretty darn good candidate. I have

the just after closeout route myself, several times over the years. The Denon is a fine unit. I have two receivers & two disk players, all Denon, & they have been utterly capable & completely bullet proof for me as to reliability. Not to say other viable options are certainly out there. If our guy, rustbelt, can do the around $280 total thing, it would be a very good unit for him.
