General discussion

need a new mp3 player

Mar 5, 2006 1:56PM PST

Hi i had a rio carbon 5gb mp3 player but the head phone jack is partially broken and i cant get a new one because of the warranty. I think i broke the jack because i transfer my mp3 player from my car auxilary input cable to my house a lot. So i was wondering if there is an Mp3 player that's not going to fall apart in 6 months reasonable price nothing over 220 and the headphone jack is really strong. Also i want a player that is going to offer good sound quality because i like to plug it into my car steareo system to listen to my subs.

Thanks for your time

My good freind had a Zen, and after 2 months the headphone jack got pretty ********. I'd suggest a Sony, I've had a MD for like 4 years now, and i do the stupidest thigns to it (im waiting for Sandisk E200 4GB), and nothing has ever happened to the headphone jack or player itself.

Of course dont get a MD, their ancient.

I recommend it highly, it has excellent audio quality, is small and pocketable. I also think it has an attractive design, thats a matter of taste though. Mine has never had any problems with the headphone jack or anything else and I use it every day since Novemeber.

at least if you want audio books. Tried new downloads, firmware, recovery, etc.everything their support site suggested and still returned it after 5 days.

iAudio

iAudio have the best sound at the moment.

If you plan to play your music back through big speakers its worth going for one of the models that plays FLAC (lossless codec at about 60% size). You will really appreciate the difference.

iAudio U3, X5, X5L, 6 are their current best models, depending on how much storage you need, and have fantastic sound.

Apart from these Creative and iRiver also make nice sounding players.

I second that

As far as quality goes Cowon is way ahead of the pack. Check out the X5. It'll do what you need it to do and do it well. They have great build quality. Better than the other companies
