Need a little help...

....with the restoration of the Network icon in the left pane above/below HD icon.

I had to set up my WiFi network to my PC to copy some back up files, something I had done many times in the past.

So I ran the installer app., set up network and transferred files to the PC.

However I would now like to return the network icon, but the question is how? I have only been a Mac user for a short times and I'm still learning my way around OS X.

up on the menu bar? As in:

Under the Apple, select "System Preferences"
Click on "Network"
In the "Show" dropdown, select "Airport"
At the bottom of the window, check "Show AirPort status in menu bar"...

That one?

Or do you mean this one?

Click an empty space on the desktop
Under Finder, in the menu bar, select preferences
Put a check mark in the Network Icon box.
Should put it back into the sidebar again

QUestion: Why is is necessary to reconfigure your wireless network when you want to "talk" to the PC. Why not just set up the network so that everything can "talk" to each other, all the time?
