could anyone recommend a 2GB PC2-5300 (667mhz) DDR2 laptop memory? Kingston
sounds good but I am not sure if it's a good quality/price ratio.

practically all ram is good quality nowadays.

2gb kits (two 1gb so-dimms) are about $85.
