Need a laptop

by chicago2003 / February 8, 2004 2:17 AM PST

I'm looking for a "college" laptop, one good enough for word processing and doing the internet. It doesn't need to be slow or super fast. I have yet to find a cheap one, and I'm not too sure about used ones. Any suggestions?

Just me talking.

Used can be very annoying. Missing CDs and ready to expire machines or for instance our armada of ThinkPads that won't die, but are Pentium 133 and 166's!

In short, I really like the units you find for $999 USD with wide screen 256M RAM, 30+GB Hard Disk, CDRW/DVD and more... (like 1.4GHz Centino and wifi.)

CompUSA, Circuit City, Best Buy all have about $699 - $749 (w/rebates) laptops - Compaq or Toshiba. Work very fine - 256 mem, 30-40G HD, CD-RW/DVD drive, etc... You can usually get a boatload of software free as well.
