Need a high power laptop with removable HD

Dec 15, 2009 9:15AM PST

I'm currently using a MACBOOK PRO. I need the speed and graphics to do my work

BUT I deal with classified data - so therefore I have to lock up the laptop in a classified safe. When I travel, it becomes a real experience as I have to have the the laptop wrapped and carry paperwork yada yada.

I really need a system that I can swap out the hard drive. I can then overnight the hard drive and just carry the laptop as unclassified system.

I just recently returned from an overseas trip, and a wrapped computer raises a lot of eyebrows and explaining - identification, passports, paperwork etc etc.

So looking for a gaming laptop (because of the graphics) with removable drives.

Any suggestions?

TIA

Sounds too far for CONSUMER models.

We used to have a Dell that had a removable drive. It just slid in on the right side, so no problem. But I don't currently see anything on the Dell site.

The consumers
Dec 15, 2009 9:22PM PST

Had little need for such things. And as specialty needs lessen or rather those that wanted such start using more consumer products the demand for such lessens and the NICHE makers battle it out for what remains.

You also notice the choices go down and the prices go up. Not that it went up that much. Back in my military work days the average workstation was 20K or more. Seems like that never changed.

But KEEP SHOPPING. With ESATA now being a standard more and more, a laptop with no internal hard drive might soon appear.
