Question

need a firefox download for macbook pro?

Jan 20, 2012 4:04AM PST

I have recently gotten a macbook pro and I need to download firefox. My internet people said I need it because they can't use safari at all and that is what my schooling requires which is who i got the mac from. I went through google chrome it put me to c/net. Now message says: This type of file can harm your computer. Do you want to keep firefox 9.0.1.dmg anyway?
Im pretty new to computers in general so what exactly does that mean?

Answer
The message may mean that you got the file

from an untrusted site or that the computer treats a dmg file as suspicious because it contains an installable program. To get it from the real source, go to Mozilla site (http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html) and download form there. If the message comes back, I would disregard it.

Safari basically no different..

Probably true for you using Safari.

Problem I found: using 'Tools' last option in list is 'clear recent history' you get a few options.
<span id="INSERTION_MARKER">I always (every time before I shut my computer down every night) check box to left to delete:
x 'browsing and down load history'
x 'form and search history'
x 'cookies'
x 'cache'

Next time I boot up and use Safari, guess what... ALL the above still shows. Why, I don't know.
Safari remembers it all, much to my dislike. Even when I do check all the above using tools.

So I have to go to "spotlight" search for all 'cookies' and all 'cache' then check them and clear them. Big Big pain in the ****.
Maybe it's me, my lack of how to clear the above items using Safari?
So for my peace of mind, I stay away from Safari totally! Firefox works when using tools...

Google Chrome system requirements: Mac OS-X 10.4.1 is not compatible with 10.5 required.
To each their own, maybe you have the knowledge/knack, or probably it's me, I don't know...

Dak-D (sounds close to 'Jacked' {{ not off }} ) Silly me.

Try as I may, I cannot find anything in Safari that is labeled Tools.

I almost downloaded a new firefox version,,, luckily i saved my old download.
had to uninstall the new version from my app's folder.
any new system, always go directly to source of system.
be sure to look at options, and "computer system/version requirements" before downloading.
just in case, save last version that was working.
mac os-x, loving the ease of use and no viruses. ya really get what you pay for in life
