Need a External Harddrive Suggestion for Vista-64 bit

Dec 11, 2009 11:26AM PST

I'm currently trying to find a external hard drive that I can put all my important files on so that I can upgrade to windows 7. I know that you can do an upgrade straight from vista but I wanted to reformat in the process also. I actually went out and bought one already but I ran into problem, it appears to be incompatible with vista-64 bit. I went back to the store and the sales representatives just told me to look at the system specs but all the ones I looked at simply said vista and didn't specify vista-64 bit just like the one that I bought. I don't want to keep running back and forth trying to find one that works. Also none of the system specs that I read mentioned windows 7. I realize there are updated drivers out there but I suck at finding them and doing research at this kind of thing.

Could anyone suggest a external hard drive that runs well with vista-64 bit, windows 7, and is of course good quality for your money?

Thanks

Just read this forum where people put all their files onto ONE EXTERNAL and then something goes wonky. Where's the backup?

And GOOD LUCK about such things listing Vista 64. Not that they should but these things tend to just work with that OS.
