I am looking for a desktop with the following specs as minimum:
-Core 2 Duo e6600 (2.4 ghz) -- Important!
-NVIDIA GeForce 7300LE, w/ TurboCache -- OR INTEL GMA
(i am going to upgrade to a $150 video card I found online later)
160GB + Drive ~~ or 72gb Raptor 10k rpm drive
Windows XP Media Center Edition -- Free Vista upgrade is possible
At least 1GB RAM
LightScribe _or_ drive with dual layer burning
no secondary drive, no floppy, and no card readers.
Monitor would be nice, but I can buy a 19 in for $140.
~my price range is $600 - $1200~
This computer is FOR gaming, and intensive work, like programming, 3d rendering, and CAD!
I have customized a Dell w/ these specs (except 250 gb hd, not 160, and no monitor) for about $950
i have customized an HP w/ these (except 160 bg hd, w/ tv tuner, no monitor) for about $1080
I would like not to spend extra on a video card, cause they tend to rip you off on upgrade fo that stuff, so GMA is preferrable out of the box. I don't have experience in building, but every config I've done on Monarch Computers yeilds a much higher price that dell or HP.
Oh, and is dell or HP better/cheaper than one another? Which is more upgradable, and do either solder their processors, in case I want to upgrade later? Thanks!
