Need a 1080P HD TV that will double as a PC Display

Oct 20, 2008 5:39PM PDT

I want to buy a 26" to 32" 1080p LCD HD TV that I can use as my computer display as well as the display for the dual analoge TV tuner card that is in my computer and a future HD PC TV Tuner. My TV service is from Time Warner and I have their digital package but I do not use a cable box in the computer room. Maybe there is some sort of Cable Card possibility?? My computer has ports for either standard or digital displays. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The relevant computer system information follows:

Computer - HP Pavillion m7690e running MS Vista Home Premium
Processor - AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.20 GHz
Memory (RAM) 1022MB
32-Bit Operationg System
Display Adapters - NVidia GeForce 7500LE
Sound - Creative SB X-Fi
Tv Tuners - Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCII (23xxx) (2 Tuners)

Video Card Information
Oct 21, 2008 4:37PM PDT

Hi, Thank you for responding. The Video card has VGA and DVI outputs. Do you mean that if I buy a HD TV I can hook it to my PC using a DVI to HDMI cable (I assume plugged into one of the TV's HDMI input slots) even though there is nothing in my cumputer putting out a HD signal?

If I use a DVI to HDMI cord will I also need any other connections between the computer and TV or will that one connection allow me to view and hear the sounds from anything that originates in or goes through the computer (DVD, TV Tuner Card, Internet based movies/TV shows, Microsoft Office etc.)?

Thanks again!!

DVI is video only, no audio you need an audio cable.

The Video part of DVI and HDMI are compatible, you are turning the HDTV into monitor at 1280x720. I have done this many times using a DVI cable from my PC.
Computer graphics are HD have been that for many years.
A PC makes the best up converting DVD player. John
