Question

NEAT ADF SCANNER DRIVERS (LEGACY)

Hey everyone! My very old school boss just purchased a like-new Neat ADF Desktop Scanner. He has the install disc *somewhere* but cannot find it at this time. Unfortunately the company website is no longer supporting this model of the scanner, and they don't even have the legacy version drivers to download because they're trying to force you to upgrade. Does anyone know where I might find a clean version of the drivers to download elsewhere? I've searched a few sites like SourceForge and cannot find them myself. When you plug the USB cable into the computer nothing pops up automatically either. Help please! Thanks!

The nothing pops up is concerning.

That can be a sign the scanner's USB port is dead. Or bad cable, bad USB port or something else.

I want to make two comments.

1. It's not the company forcing the update. Sometimes there are third parties that want royalties and since folk do not want to pay for drivers there is no way to pay the royalty. So the company drops the driver package and moves on. This has lead to some thinking conspiracy or something else.

2. Linux. https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2095420 and many other posts. I've found Linux to be the answer for a lot of old scanners and printers. There are ways to run the Linux in a virtual machine (VirtualBox) under Windows and scan so while this works it can be too much for everyday folk.

Do check out Kees' post as mine is just to address conspiracy and the other exits.
