General discussion

Navigation features vs. Editing features

Aug 7, 2005 5:52AM PDT

I have been converting my old VHS, 8mm (tape), and digital video to DVD's. I am using Sonic My DVD, Arcsoft Showbiz, and Pinnacle Studio 8. All of the programs are functioning correctly, but not doing what I want them to do. I have stored my videos in clips, and given each clip a unique name and date that it was recorded. I can use Sonic My DVD and get the ability to create a navigation menu to watch a particular clip and let the viewer know what's on the DVD, but sacrifice the ability to add transitios, titles, etc. that I get with Showbiz and Studio 8. Is there a program that allows me to have both?

Thanks, Brad

Try to think in chapters vs. clips.

Clips will be standalone clips with no transitions to/from each clip. If you had one movis, you edit that as you see fit then use chapters to get to each clip.

Or if you have space, mix it up with chapters and clips.

importing clips to Showbiz

I have Showbiz2 and it works beautifully. You can "import media files" from the "file" dropdown menu. They will appear as icons on the media holding area. From there you can drag and drop to the movie storyboard area, edit and apply transitions and chapter separations to your hearts content.

By the way, check in the "help" menu. There will be links there to the publisher's site and a wonderful tutorial and instruction manual.
