NAV 2004 Pro problems!

Dec 4, 2003 4:35PM PST

When doing a manual scan (I haven't tried to do a scheduled yet) my computer either freezes or I get the error message explained here.

I have followed the suggestions from Symantec, but still no cure! This never happened before and I don't know exactly when it started, but I think it was last Friday or Saturday. Anyone else has experienced the same?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, real-time scanning and manual scanning of small files and folders seems OK. The problem with NAV 2004 that I've seen is manual scan of the local drives.

Seen that error before that is why I switch back to NAV 2003. I plan to install NAV 2004 again only if they will provide fixes not work-around.

Strange but...
Dec 4, 2003 5:09PM PST

I had my computer slightly overclocked. When I set it back to default again (in BIOS) it worked! So it seems as if it works fine again if you want to give it a try... Unless you have OC'd your computer of course... LOL!

That's strange but good to hear that it solved the manual scanning problem. I might give your solution a try (yes my BIOS settings is OC'd) as I like the new features of NAV 2004 to detect Spywares that I've been wishing for a long time Grin

Thanks to you!

DONNA!
Dec 4, 2003 8:26PM PST

I had my CPU clock set to 250 instead of 200 and that's when I experienced the problem. Now I lowered it to 225 and it works well! I guess it has to do with the Mobo too... So I am still OCing the computer but less than before. I may give it a shot with the full OC later and if it works again I'll tell you.

I have an MSI mobo and a 2.6C GHz FSB 800 CPU and right now I am running the CPU at almost 3 GHz, before it was 3.25...

I'm going to lowered my CPU clock too tomorrow morning. If it'll solve the manual scan issue in NAV 2004 - I leave it as is. I really find it strange but I have to give your trick a try Grin so I can enjoy my NAV 2004.

Thank you again. Looking forward to hear more from you.

Mine is up to 235 and the manual scanning works! I am going to keep pushing it and see if I can do it at 250 again! Maybe it wasn't the OC that made it freeze... But OTOH I haven't done anything to anything but lowering the CPU clock.

I'll tell you more soon!

NAV 2004 Pro

I installed it again. Ran manual scan and to my surpise it worked though compressed files are being scanned. If ever NAV 2004 manual scan will fail, I'll do your trick.

Thank you again Happy

I'm glad it works! Although I don't like the fact that they are doing the same as M$ with XP... I am curretnly running my computer at 235. What system do you have Donna?
