General discussion

native resolution = mode not supported, using HDMI

May 5, 2009 7:19PM PDT

I am unable to use the monitors native resolution when I use the HDMI cable to connect the Samsung LCD to my Sony notebook.

I am forced to use a higher resolution which causes a strip on all sides to remain hidden outside the display area (including the taskbar, if set as primary). Resolution is also imperfect (fonts difficult to read).

Attempts to set the resolution to 1440x900 manually or by pressing 'Change to Native Resolution' in the Change Flat Panel Scaling settings of the Nvidia CP result in a "Mode not supported' error message on the display.

Sony Vaio VGN-FZ280E, Vista Premium (same problem running Windows 7). NVIDIA CP 1.4.2.49. Samsung LA19R71B. HDMI (VGA cable not tried).
