Nasty Hi-Def picture using componit vidio cables

Jun 13, 2005 3:29AM PDT

The day after I bought my Sony 65" hi-def t.v. I had the dish network 811 satillate system installed and the picture looked terrible, So I called Sony and The Dish network (no help) . The next day I got a d.v.i. cable and bam beautiful picture Then I noticed my progressive scan d.v.d player also looked nasty using componit vidio interface I tried everything but no go . so I finally bought a Denon 2910 player with d.v.i. output and a Giffen d.v.i. switcher and now the picture is stunning, Then I noticed that almost all the hi-def tvs displayed in stores are hooked up using componit vidio cables and they look great Why? NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW THANKS cadillacstew@aol.com

it just depnds on the set that you get. Your component connections could be bad and that is what is causing the poor signal.

Also remeber that retail stores satelite pictures are not as compressed as the satelite picture you get so they will generally look better as well.

sears guy, do you know the bitrate on the satellite "cable" you get at retail stores? Usuaully companies reserve so much bandwidth for cheaper crappier channels & some for the movie channels & some for PPV shows. Just curious... Happy

actually no I don't. I just know that we get a direct signal with very little compression, and seeing how we only get 2 channels it makes sense as well. Also all of the boxes we use are amplified but that probably doesn't help too much since we split them about 60 times using only component cables.
