Name That Cable!

by RekdiFy / January 27, 2009 11:26 PM PST

Power jack break.
Me fix.
Open laptop.
Close laptop. Oops, broke cable.

Cable connects the power button panel to the main board. I can't turn my laptop on anymore.

The Link to photo bucket slideshow should be visually explanatory. You can see the size of the cable proportion to its background

What is the name of this cable?
Is it a specific part for this Gateway?
What are the odds of me finding it?
Suggestions on where to shop?

You can replace that cable with 6 or so wires from point a to point b. The cable is called a flat ribbon cable and Gateway and other makers are terrible about stocking spares. My best source has been dropped laptops that sell on ebay, craigslist for peanuts. We give them 50 bucks tops for a cracked screen, no ram, no hard disk laptop and pilfer cables and other parts.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
