Re: MyGiG infotainment system
Nov 1, 2006 4:00AM PST

I put a call in to the press fleet manager at Chrysler, asking to get either a Sebring or Wrangler with the system in for review. He said a Sebring should be available by December, but we won't see a Wrangler until next year.

MyGig
May 16, 2007 6:41AM PDT

I just purchased a 2007 Wrangler Sahara Limited with MyGig and it's fantastic. I have a navigation system in my 2006 Grand Cherokee Limited that I really like also.

However,I do need some help. I cannot get it to change from French to English in spite of following the directions to do so.The dealer had no better luck. I think the instructions are incorrect and it is not a hardware problem.

If anyone can help, please do so. I don't want to learn French.

MyGIG
Nov 19, 2007 2:18AM PST

I just purchased a 2008 Jeep Liberty with the MyGIG package. I love it! We have a few pictures and songs loaded in, we have used the navigation and UConnect and we even tested it's ability to play a DVD (only in park!)

Lucky for us, we have had no language problems or Uconnect issues. The only thing I would like is to be able to do is keep on Sirius station on and still be able to surf through the info on the other channels

The Video should work only when you in park position.
For JK with manual transmition you probably need to apply
park brake, before system will info that you are inpark.Try and let me know.
BTW if you want to activate VR and UConnect functionality check

Well, I found out from a Jeep dealer that the DVD player was disconnected at the time of build due to laws in Illinois. Lets say I lived in a state where DVD is legal, how would one reprogram the My Gig system to play DVDs? Does anyone know, please inform me. Thanks.

Watch your MyGiG Front DVD Screen while in Motion
Jan 19, 2008 10:45AM PST

2008 Dodge Caravan STX - that will let me watch the DVD while in drive. I found this by accident while my wife was driving and thought I'd share.

Try this:

1. While in Park, bring up the DVD on the front console and start watching the video.
2. Push the Audio button to bring up the balance adjust menu.
3. Put the tranny in Drive and start driving.
4. Push Done on the Audio screen. My system reverts to the playing DVD instead of the standard MyGig menu.

Note - subsequent DVD function or touching the screen reverts but if you leave it alone it plays along smoothly.

Drive responsibly!

MyGig DVD/Nav in 2009 Challenger
Nov 1, 2008 4:52AM PDT

Does anyone know if the (bug) was fixed from previous versions of myGig to allow DVD play in motion? I got this last night and the wife has had it all day so I can't try any of the steps for playing in motion. Or... I have heard that there is a way to override it all together so DVD will play and Nav can be changed in motion. Whats the scoop with all this?

Mygig 08 Rubicon
Jan 19, 2008 1:03PM PST

I just picked up my 08 Rubicon today from an Illinois dealer. I sure wish I read your post before I selected that option. I put my order in back in June of 07. My salesperson did not inform me that Illinois vehicles couldn't have the dvd function. I live in Southern Wisconsin and don't think I would have bought my Jeep in Illinois knowing this. I know I wouldn't have selected the Mygig system as an option at the very least. Does anyone know if there is anything Chrysler can do to fix the dvd problem. I don't think it is illegal to have that option in Wisconsin. It's Saturday and I won't beable to contact the dealership I bought it from until Monday.

New Mygig updates
Apr 30, 2008 5:21AM PDT

07 & 08 manual Rubicon's had been locked out of viewing DVD's all together while in park (with emergency brake) or while driving. I purchase mine in December of 08 and could not do either.

From what I hear the newer Rubicon's allow it but if you in my situation (older model)...they have release a new update version of Mygig v9.713. This new release may fix some Jeeps but if it does not you have to go to the dealer and ask for the TSB that will fix the canbus (isn't reporting correctly) issue, which will fix the viewing while in park with emergency brake on.

P.S. this will not fix the while driving issue but from one of the earlier post there maybe a work around:)!
P.P.S if you want to try the update Mygig yourself try this website: http://mofv.com/MyGIG/

If you want to add a few other pretty cool features try this website: http://www.coastaletech.com/MYGIG.htm

Good luck!

My Jeep MyGig Navigation is stuck in Spanish
Nov 10, 2007 12:26AM PST

I just bought the Jeep Wrangler Sahara it is 5 days old. I turned it on one morning, and everything is in spanish, even the commands. It keeps telling me that there is no U-Connect.
The sales department told me that my model was not equipped with the U-Connect system. and have to separately purchase the module for voice command.
I contacted the Dealership and they are going to take a week to get the stuck on spanish problem, there is also no listings for the U-connect system in the database for buying a module for my model?

Anyone on here figure it out yet?

Response to your question on My Gig
Nov 12, 2007 12:33AM PST

The u-connect microphone and wiring is not available on the Jeep Wrangler. Apparently there were wiring routing issues when in design. However, the language stuck in spanish is fixable. The dealer has the ability to change it, just make sure that you dont change the language to spanish, or you'll go through the same ordeal.

I love my My Gig radio. I have used it extensively and will continue to do so. The traffic updates and Gracenotes for music are fantastic. The navigation is second to none, although JD Powers thinks otherwise. I highly recommend getting this option. You wont regret the 2200 bucks you spent and you'll be wondering why you didn't buy one sooner!

Navigation system My Gig Infotainment system
Nov 13, 2007 11:09AM PST

Well that is just great. So I have to buy the U-connect Microphone and wiring?

The dealer is so far ordering disks figuring that will fix the problem. So that is what is asking for is the U-connect speech? and is stuck in Spanish?

So I have to pay another 2200 to get my Nav system to work.. like what the?

Let me clarify
Nov 13, 2007 11:57PM PST

You can't get Uconnect on a Wrangler. Period. There is no way to route the wiring in the frame of the windshield, thus its not available, even in Mopar.

If you want the dealer to correct the radio easily, i might suggest a trick that i know. Swap the radio into a Nitro or Sebring, change the language and then put it back your Wrangler. That will fix it. Just dont change the language.

If the dealer is still having issues, tell them to call their technical hotline. They have this knowledge as well.

Uconnect and the Wrangler
Nov 14, 2007 12:32AM PST

That doesn't sound good. I am being told that it is a safety feature, that it sets a default language upon its set up. ?

They are ordering disks. Now the disks should fix the problem why are not the disks included with the Nav Mygig system if it locks itself in Spanish?

So essentially I should be able to use the disks everytime they switch languages on me. I guess I will know in two weeks.

It is a suprise to the dealer if the U-connect is not available in the Wrangler...

MOPAR just released the kits for purchasing a MyGig if you did not buy it as a factory option.

U-Connect functionality for MyGIG on Wrangler
Nov 27, 2007 2:29AM PST

Actually it is possible to get U-Connect functionality and
voice recognition as well.
All you need just a mic and bluetooth enable phone.
The mic comes with a wire harness that plugs in to the back of the radio.
just put the mic where you want it and route a small wire behind the trim.
It works great.

- Collapse -
agreed...
Nov 29, 2007 9:34AM PST

The MyGig will perform the function of Uconnect and also bluetooth in the Wranglers as you described, you are correct. However there isn't a dealer option for Uconnect, nor a factory option. There are ways around everything thoughHappy

Making U-Connect work in the Wrangler

info for uconnect on a Wrangler
Dec 1, 2007 2:43AM PST

First you need the review mirror that has the microphone built in, secondly the cabling to plug into the radio. The radios have 3 cavities. Plug it into the center one. Any other vehicle that has the mirror and cabling should do it, like a nitro or sebring. Ask your local parts guy for a Uconnect upgrade.

Hope that helps.

UConnect for Wrangler.
Dec 10, 2007 11:14PM PST

Installing the rear view mirror will not work, since the
UConnect is disble in software for Wrangler.
All you need the mic and software update disk.
The company Amerus Technology is selling the kit, including microphone and update disk for $80 plus shipping.
Works great.

U Connect in the Wrangler and SAT 6 N' 8
Dec 10, 2007 11:47PM PST

I was told by the dealership that any third party software or modifying the radio will Void my warranty. So that is nice that Wrangler will not fix this problem.

I also found out why my radio was stuck in "Spanish" it was locked into SAT 6 as a Navigation sat. One day I started up the Jeepers and it was all in English again. I am going to try to switch it back and forth see if it will alternatively go from Spanish to English and to French. Now that it is in English it is on SAT 8... make any sense?

My dealership rep told me that Sat 6 must be Spanish, I asked them why it was locked into Sat 6, perhaps it was made in Mexico? Still no answers...
