My Yahoo problems

Jun 14, 2004 8:51PM PDT

Let me try again... (I posted here http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6121-0.html?forumID=45&threadID=25579&messageID=286591 and the conversations went in the wrong direction)

I can log on to Yahoo Mail.
When I try to click the link for My Yahoo I go to the standard My Yahoo screen (the one that anyone gets if they are not logged on), despite the fact that I already entered my password to access Yahoo Mail.
At home, I use both Firefox (99% of the time) and IE.
At work, I use IE and can easily log on to My Yahoo.

I don't use ZA, nor Yahoo Messenger. I use almost every known spyware tool known to mankind.

Any suggestions?

I am not real sure what you are asking. I use SBC/Yahoo
and wasn't able to logon to my homepage this morning. Turns out they were updating the mail system. Why that screwed up my Homepage server, I don't know. If you are saying that you have to log on again when leaving Mail
and going your Homepage, yes you do. That's why I use
Mozilla Mail on Windows and Linux. They match across OS's
and it recovers mail from ALL accounts with one button. No logging in and out. You do have to understand that Yahoo uses both complete email address and password for incoming(POP) and outgoing(SMTP) mail system. After that, no problems. Hope your answer is in there somewhere. chuck

Thanks, but that is not the issue

I can log on to Yahoo (for mail retrieval)
Once you are logged in, you should be able to go to other personalized pages, my.yahoo.com being one of them. However, when I go to My Yahoo, I am at a non-logged in screen. When I try to enter password, I get an error screen. If I try to go to mail.yahoo.com I can log in.

You didn't read my post. NO, you can't! Yahoo makes you login to every different page and account. That's why
I use Mozilla Mail, so I don't have to do that. As far as
not accepting a password, sounds like you have corrupted
settings. You need to resolve this with Sbc/Yahoo tech support. Go up the chain till you get someone that understands what you need to do. Although, re-installing might be the best way to handle it. You do have an up to
date firewall, anti-virus, adware/spyware programs, I am assuming. Good luck. chuck

Thanks. but ...
Jun 16, 2004 8:32PM PDT

when I log on to Yahoo Mail and then go to other areas of personalized Yahoo (photos, for example) I am not asked to log on.

I only use Yahoo Mail for my junk addresses.

As to tech support, there is no chain long enough to get a question answered at Yahoo. I don't believe they have humans there (other than the ones who count the money!). All you get is a computer genereated response based upon select keywords.

My workaround is I simply will stop using My Yahoo. No bid deal, just an indication of what happens when there is no support!

Adious Yahoo!

Yahoo changed stuff over the past few days or week.

You aren't the first or last to (excuse me) squawk.

In case anyone has been following my Yahoo problems
Jul 4, 2004 12:19AM PDT

Magically, something happened today (July 4) and now I can log on to My Yahoo and my eprompter issue with Yahoo also disappeared.
Don't know what happened, don't care!

Another Festivus Miracle!

It is indeed magic! This is what I was talking about earlier, Larry. Wasn't off topic. I like Yahoo(working great in Mandrake, too), but they have a habit of changing things without even telling Support, so it's a B@$$# trying to track down and fix the problem. After a
few times, you can usually figure when they're at it again, or you have a REAL problem. Glad everything is back to normal. Happy 4th. chuck
