My wmp9 will not play any files

by catamago / July 22, 2004 2:57 AM PDT

The other day I did some downloads off of Windows Update. one was for the media 9 player. Since then none of my files will play. Music, video, even radio stations and things already loaded on the player. The number for this download is kb837272. I could not find it in the add/remove section and I did a search and could not find it there either. Perhaps it is under a different name. I don't know.
If anyone could help me with this problem I would appreciate it.
I do not know if this is the problem.
I can not do a system restore because it was not turned on for some reason.

My connection is slow so You'll have to do the work.

Into This FAQ notes a way to rip WMP out and reinstall it.

Best of luck,

Which Windows do you have?

Do you have a software firewall installed? Sometimes, if you use the built-in firewall in Windows XP, it will ask you if you allow the port to be opened before it starts playing the multimedia file.
