You said the system won't boot from the disk in the DVD drive.
That should be easily fixed. Turn on the system and as it goes through its initial checks press the Enter BIOS Setup key on the keyboard. Different systems display different messages and also use different keys. For example on this PB Laptop, the key I use is F2.
In the BIOS look for Boot Order. Move the DVD drive to the top of the list then Save and Exit the BIOS. Now, insert the disk (reboot if necessary), and the system should find the disk in the DVD drive and boot from it.

Hey all, my Vista refuses to start up and after some investigations I figured one of the boot drivers was missing! I tried to repair using windows disc but no luck with dvd rom, won't boot. So, I created a bootable usb drive which did work but sadly all it does on startup is load windows files then gives me the mouse cursor (in bad resolution) with the vista blue background!! No repair option, no installation options, nothing!!!
What do you think went wrong? I'm trying to repair a Fujitsu siemens AMILO Pro v3515 using the Vista home basic cd it came with!!
