Resolved Question

my tv loses signal when playing 3D blue ray HDMI 1

Feb 25, 2015 7:09AM PST

Hi there, I have my Samsung 3D BD player BD-H5900 hooked up to my Samsung UN55H6400. I've got the BD hooked up to my receiver (Harmon Kardon AVR 247) via HDMI and outo via HDMI to the tv. When I start a move in 3D, the player advises me to put on my 3D glasses, and as soon as the movie is supposed to start, the tv screen goes black, and the tv states no signal from HDMI 1.

I plugged the BD directly into the tv via HDMI 4 and it worked flawlessly.

What gives? Thanks a bunch in advance!

Re: My Tv....

I'm Sorry to hear this! It sounds like the receiver is causing a signal issue. it may not be able to process the video codec of 3D. Have u tried plugging the Blu-ray Directly to the HDMI 1 on the television to to verify it's not the port?

Hi there, thanks for responding. Yes, I connected straight from the Blueray player to the TV and it worked great, so I know the port works. I think the receiver is the issue. Just ordered an Onkyo 3D receiver with Dolby Atmos, hope it's excellent! Do I need a specific kind of HDMI cable now?
Thanks again!

If you have the right HDMI cable, it's likely to be a bug.

Call Samsung to ask how or when they'll fix it.

2008

Your reciever is from 2008, and does not support HDMI 1.4, which would be required for 3D. You could connect your BD player to the TV, and the TV out to the reciever, and this should get you your sound, but the old reciever will never be a hub for modern equipment.
