About two weeks ago I started getting a bunch of annoying popups and my computer seemed a bit slow. I ran Search and Destroy. It found the usual tracking cookies. I solved those problems & now Spybot doesn't find anything. Nevertheless, I was still having the problem so I bought Antiy Ghostbuster. Ghostbuster found about five more trojans, which I successfully deleted...but I still have popups. Everytime I run Ghostbuster it finds (and allegedly "kills") the same three things.
C:\WINDOWS\moneya1m.exe found Trojan.Win32.Delf.cf killed
C:\WINDOWS\system32\32gm.exe found Trojan.Win32.Delf.cf killed.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\moneya1m.exe found Trojan.Win32.Delf.cf killed.
...and I still have popups.
The only way I can stop the popups is if I actually go into those folders and remove the offending files myself.
When I go into WINDOWS\Prefetch I delete something called MONEYA1M.EXE-1B40DF5C.pf and a similar file for the 32GM.EXE thing (I already deleted it so I can't give you the full filename).
When I go to the System32 file I can find the moneya1m.exe but I can't find the 32gm.exe anywhere. The only place I can find anything like it is the .pf file in WINDOWS\Prefetch.
My questions are, why do these files keep loading up on my computer each time I start? Are they stored in another file that I might've downloaded somewhere along the line? If so, how do I find that specific file and delete it?
The only "new" files on my PC over that last month are a bunch of game mods. I wonder if these trojans are hiding somewhere in those files. If so, why don't they show up on the scans?
