Question

My Toshiba L310 laptop is not booting

My Toshiba L310 laptop (runs on Vista) is not booting. It is having a successful POST, and then the screen is blank with the backlight on. The fan runs. I choose to boot from the CD drive with a bootable disk but still the same blank screen is on. I tried the CD trick using a external CD/DVD drive, this too didnt help.

Can someone tell what is wrong here?

Thanks

also, I tried using an external monitor to rule out issue with display LCD, and I saw a blank screen there too..

Since no CD can boot,

I take it you know how to set the BIOS to boot from other places and it fails. There are some machines that do this with USB things plugged in but is there more to the story? Such as the machine was dropped?
