My Start and Babylon Browser

by colinito / August 17, 2012 7:52 PM PDT

Hello Everyone,
I have just re-activated my Incredimail programme. The "MyStart" and "Babylon" browsers have appeared and I am not able to eliminate/remove or disable them from either Mozilla Firefox 14.0.1 Google Chrome or I.M 9. They do not appear to be actual Malware, but they hijack my Google Browser which is unacceptable.

I do not see them in Control Panel/Programmes and features.

I have checked with all Browser managers.
Un-checked all toolbar entries under View and underTools/Settings/etc. and deleted the following from my Computer under C:\Programme Files\.

C:\Program Files\Incredibar-Games_EN\GottenAppsContextMenu.xml
C:\Program Files\Incredibar-Games_EN\Incredibar-Games_ENToolbarHelper.exe
C:\Program Files\Incredibar-Games_EN\ldrtbIncr.dll
C:\Program Files\Incredibar-Games_EN\OtherAppsContextMenu.xml
C:\Program Files\Incredibar-Games_EN\prxtbIncr.dll
C:\Program Files\Incredibar-Games_EN\SharedAppsContextMenu.xml
C:\Program Files\Incredibar-Games_EN\tbIncr.dll
C:\Program Files\Incredibar-Games_EN\toolbar.cfg
C:\Program Files\Incredibar-Games_EN\ToolbarContextMenu.xml
C:\Program Files\Incredibar-Games_EN\uninstall.exe

Also from the Registry under Run/ REGEDIT-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Conduit\RevertSettings ""
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main StartPage ""
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Conduit\Toolbars "Incredibar-Games EN Toolbar"
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar "Incredibar-Games EN Toolbar"
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Incredibar-Games EN Toolbar

This appears to be connected to Incredimail and I may well be forced to delete Incredimail. I would mention that I have not had this problem before and have used Incredimail with no problems until now.

Thank you for any advice

My Start and Babylon Browsers
by colinito / August 19, 2012 5:54 PM PDT

Thanks a lot, Griff.
Now Babylon has gone!
I am left with My Start. Each time I open a new page, even though my chosen browser is Google, MyStart opens up - following a delay whilst it opens when the browser address bars are frozen.
I am unable to discover it in any location - Search Programme and Files, H Keys, Programme Files, Programme and Features, so I am unable to directly remove it.
I have run AVG, Malwarebytes, Spybot and CCCleaner. NO sign of it and it is still there! It is annoying, but it appears to only hijack the browser. I have the Hijackthis porogramme, and will next contact them and ask if they would analyse a scan for me, as the details which it's scan produces are too technical for me to understand whether everything it shows should be deleted/removed!
I will return with any result which might help others with this annoying problem

I looked at the following -

3] Open Firefox and in the address bar type about:config . Accept the warning. When the list populates, type into the address bar MyStart and see what entries are found. Do the same for Incredibar. If entries are found, you can try and change those to default, but if you are not sure, copy the entries and post them into your reply here.

Unfortunately, after typing "about: config" into the address bar I only got a list of Internet web pages and no Warning or ensuing list!

I have done a HijackThis scan and forwarded it to HijackThis for advice.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I will await their reply and if I get a positive reply that results in the elimination of MyStart - I will return to this thread and post the result which may be of assistance to others with this problem.

Seems Like You Typed It Wrong...
by Grif Thomas Forum moderator / August 21, 2012 2:56 AM PDT

As Mark stated: In Firefox, type: about:config

You typed: about: config

You left a space after the colon. Mark did not.. There are no spaces in the typed command.

Hope this helps.

(Hides his head in shame!) You are SO right. I did leave a space. I tried it without a space and it is as it should be!
Now to find how to reset or choose the correct item to replace all those babylon entries! plus the HKeys.

Thank you,
