Ok after scourring (i think i spelled that right) these forums i finally have my setup. My cables are coming in the mail soon and im posting to see what people think. Thanks for any input in advancs.

What i have: Yamaha YHT-390 receiver/home theater in a box, Mitsubishi DLP 57", Xbox 360, Sony upconvert dvd player, Wii, AT&T HD Set Top Box

Connections:

1) Receiver to TV: audio via Digital coaxial (my tv only has coaxial.
2) Dvd player: Video via HDMI to TV, Audio via Digital Optical to Receiver.
3) Xbox 360: Video via component (have older xbox w/ no hdmi port), Audio via digital optical to Receiver.
4) Wii: Video via component, Audio via RCA to Receiver
5) ATT Set Top Box: Video via HDMI to TV, Audio via Digital Optical to Receiver

Notes: my receiver only has 2 digital optical ports so the DVD player and Xbox 360 will be on an Optical switcher and the ATT STB will go into its own seperate port.

Thanks for reading and again all comments, suggestions, and bashing of my setup are welcome Grin

I think that's the part I don't quite comprehend. Dn you really need that connection since (I presume) you don't need to utilize the built-in HDTV speakers w/ a HTIB(?) Please elaborate Wink

receiver to TV
Aug 8, 2009 1:25AM PDT

I think the way i originally had it set up is that i had the wii going composite to the tv speakers and then i was going to run the coaxial to the receiver so i could either a. play with just speakers or b. play on the stereo. But now since im running it straight into the receiver i guess i can scrath the coaxial part of the set up. What would be a situation that i would need to run it from the tv to receiver via digital coaxial? Thanks for all your help with the final touches of my setup
