Resolved Question

My samsung laptop has stopped scrolling

Oct 9, 2011 12:27AM PDT

My laptop has a touchpad with a scroll function along the side. A couple of days ago it stopped working. I have looked at some forum discussions for similar issues but cannot find any solutions/suggestions for a samsung laptop. I have the NP-QX410-S02U model.

Does it scroll using and external mouse? Assume you have checked settings in control panel.

yes- i had checked all control panel/mouse settings, rebooted, tried function+F12 (scroll lock/unclock) etc.
ended up calling samsung tech support- they helped my re-install the drivers for touchpad- seems like software can get corrupted at times by viruses (in spite of having good anti-virus programs).

Answer
That scroll along the side is software based.

At least it is not a hardware issue. I think it's the ELAN tab over in Control Panel, Mouse.

There are some that call such BLOATWARE and later learn it can be difficult to reinstall the pad software.
