Answer
I've had that trouble at home.

Fix? I changed carriers since the new carrier works around my home.

Again if that wasn't clear. It wasn't the phone but a coverage issue where I was.

The service here is fine. It worked for almost 2 years without a problem. Occasionally it does work.
The carrier is working with me on this and they also believe it is not a phone problem but a switching
problem of some sort.

Let's say it's a switching problem.

Where is this switch?
Did they swap out the phone?

Not a physical switch per se but...

...how the OP's calls happen to get routed on the carrier network. For example, if the OP has a number from another area code/exchange but lives somewhere else (like in another state far away), there could be some odd routing going on causing the issue. YMMV.

It's been a year or two since I chatted with my friends in

The various back end handling of call routing. 2013 to be exact. Time flies but from 2000 to 2013 the meetings were about a commercial product and was great fun as well as more work on the backend hardware.

For today I'd have to write if they don't sort this out in a week or two it's time to change carriers. That's what seems to fix such issues the fastest.

OTOH, some of us unfortunately don't have the option to change carriers, at least in the short term Sad.

It's sort of fun though to imagine where the call actually goes sometimes. I bet some of the legacy stuff the carriers still have in their systems can really add to such 'fun' Wink

Third world areas. My buddy in this area thinks So. Korea may be leading edge on wireless. USA appears to be lagging badly.
