Question

My RCA Cambio will randomly turn off

Mar 27, 2018 6:36AM PDT

This is not a "soft turn off" the effect is like holding the power button. it will go black. Also its settings app is missing and the action center is gone. its completely random and will do it even if I open the start menu sometimes. it occasionally does it on the sign in screen. I need help soon as this is my school computer.

If a factory reset fails to fix it
Mar 28, 2018 9:52AM PDT

Be sure there is no SD card installed and do one last reset. If it still fails it is dead and at the price this sold for you never consider repair.

I can't know what you need for school. This is not what we call a computer but a tablet. For a computer I consider that when it has a keyboard and mouse.

Since most of what this does is in most smart phones, why not the cheapest smart phone you can find today? https://www.amazon.com/BLU-Advance-Unlocked-Smartphone-Black/dp/B072N6BD9V/ is 40 bucks now. However I did manage to find a pair of Amazon Fire HD 8 tablets for 29.99 each on Woot.com but that deal is gone.

This is not caused by hardware
Mar 28, 2018 11:15AM PDT

Dude this is caused by there not being a settings app. the computer trys to execute something and it cant. i think the bsod program is gone to. that's why not bsod but intsa turn off.

Sorry but

A factory reset puts it back to factory condition and wipes out installed apps. If it fails in factory condition, then it's really broken.

I've encountered clients that WISH it was something else. They can't be helped. You send them on their way as nicely as you can.

Me? Just a former shop owner, electronics designer and more.

If you feel it is as you say, how would you fix that?

If the factory reset fails to do what it claims as in those odd Windows tablets you have to get with the maker to ask them how to fix that.

No one but them seems to know.

I understand it all too well.

And if it is this, the maker has to supply a fix to when factory reset fails or if like a Windows OS, the missing files.
