Answer
That's maybe.

First, soundbars usually have 2 or at best 3 speakers so that's an easy no, it's not 5.1.
Since you didn't share the exact models, no one can see if they play such, HOWEVER....

The biggest hurdle seems to bt encoding. You can find forums full of folk very upset their rips and downloads don't play on many HDTV, BD players and such. It's all about encoding. I'm finding folk do not want to learn this area.

my question is
Aug 21, 2015 11:49AM PDT

Lets say if i buy a sony home theater bdv-E4100 then if i play a blurayrip file which contains 5.1 channel audio via its usb then will i be getting 5.1 channel audio. My question is if any 5.1 channel bluray home theater which is able to produce 5.1 audio output while playing a bluray disc in its bluray player, will it also produce same audio output if i play that blurayrip file via its usb playback.

Sony did not document this.

http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/4446734151.pdf does not document 5.1 support from USB playback. Page 62 and 63 only call out 5.1 on BD and less encodings on the TV source. Strangely absent is a column for USB which is code for unsupported.

You'll have to see if your encodings will work. Or call Sony for clarification.

Surprisingly no brand documents this i think

Thank you for your reply sir, I am surprised that no brand mentions or documents about 5.1 out via usb playback. Its strange but if you find anything that fulfil my requirment then please let me know. Thanks a lot!

Some do.

I did see some Sams that did that.

However, I use a WDTV Live that does some 100 times better that I would never go back to playing on the HTIB or Smart TV.

It was some receiver, not speaker set.

Reciever also required?
Aug 24, 2015 1:29AM PDT

Does that means a reciever is also required to get desired output? What if i play the brrip content on usb port of reciever. WDTV live wont be required then.

Sorry

But it appears you are searching for something I can't quite put a finger on. I can share what works for me, what may work but there are folk that want, well at this point I'm not quite sure.

The WDTV Live I bought was from memory 70 bucks (I got one from WD refurb) and the receiver was something a roommate abandoned so I lucked into that. It's not the best and since then I changed it all again.
