My PS2 mouse stopped working

by firemanhass1 / July 17, 2007 12:44 AM PDT

I was using my desktop computer when my mouse suddenly stopped working. I looked in the device manager and the "mice and other pointing devices" tab is completely gone. I restored my computer to a week ago and no luck. Anyone know how to get my PS2 mouse driver back?

have you checked the mouse port to make sure its connected? when you reboot your pc, does the post complain that no mouse is present?

mice are pretty cheap nowadays so you could try a $7 replacement to see if the cat's finally gotten your old one.

I've tried everything. I need to somehow get those drivers back. I'm not sure if it was a virus or what. I tried 3 different mice. I already know what the problem is... my PS2 mouse drivers are not present. Does anyone know how to get them back?

you won't see drivers for a device the pc can't see

In reply to: hi

even if your divers are 'missing', device manager will still show a mouse device under 'mice and other pointing devices'.

check your bios to determine if it can see the mouse. if the bios can't see it, the ps2 port has most likely died. usb mice are cheap also.

I checked BIOS I couldn't find anything mentioning a mouse, but I didn't see anything mentioning a keyboard either for that matter. But anyway i'll just let it go and just go to Best Buy and go USB wireless. Thanks very much for your help.

The Samsung Galaxy S8's fast speeds and fantastic curved screen make it a top phone for 2017, but the annoying fingerprint reader could sour your experience.
