So it can copy (print) the contents of a printed sheet to paper, and it can't print a computer file to paper. What exactly happens if you try?

Until solved, copy that file you need to a USB-stick and print somewhere else (friend, family, school, work, copy shop).

Printers don't copy, they print.
So that area is not clear.

What is A4 papers?
That area is not clear.

Try to put in a post so that folks that can't 'see' what your doing can understand.

A4 is a paper size

Common to another continent. Sort of like meters versus feet in measurement?

To OP. Sounds like there's some paper still jammed in there. Try your best to find it then get repair or replacement estimates.

Try unplugging the power cord to the printer(not the cord from the computer) leave unplugged for several minutes. Plug the power cord back in and try.

A4 Printer and Jam Clear Tutorial

To Everyone

For the record I venture to say that 99% of home users have A4 printers. The other 1% may have a home business that requires an A3 printer which is one that accommodates 11x17 paper. A4 (8.27 x 11.7) as a paper size is slightly larger than 8.5 x 11 on the long end (US letter) but less that than 8.5 x 14 (US legal). A4 (Asian/European measurement) is the equivalent to US letter.

Printer manufacturers to overcome making one printer for the US and another printer for the rest of the world adopted the adjustable paper tray. I know this as I once worked for a major US copier manufacturer in the stone age 1970's and 1980's. The paper trays were not adjustable, but actually had to be switched out to accommodate letter, legal and ledger (11x17). Today even a printer (or MFP) with a single paper tray will adjust from 3x5 (US Index) to 8.5 x 14 (US Legal). That adjustability covers the A4 (8.27 x 11.7) measurement.

So as you have probably surmised...the printer you purchased from Staples, BestBuy, OfficeMax, Amazon and a host of other retailers is actually an A4 Printer! Cool

To V_I_Antonov

As to why your printer isn't printing there's probably no paper involved causing a jam. The path the printer uses to print a document via the print queue on your computer is the same path used when printing a copy from the glass.

The suggestion given by Shepbob is on the right track. The only thing he/she forgot to mention is that after removing the power cord you should press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds, release it and then plug the power cord back in. This will reset the printer.

Also make sure you are choosing the correct paper tray and media in the print queue before you print. If you have set the printer to A4 in its menu you must select A4 in the print queue (even though you have US letter size loaded in the tray).

I hope this helps and Good Luck!
