While your subject looks to be a typo. As to 2GB RAM, that's a fine amount of RAM for most of us. And XP SP3 supported drives to over 1TB so that's not an issue yet.
As to how long a machine lasts is anyone's guess. I have this Compaq Portable made in 1983 that still works. That's 27 years.
I have a Dell Dimension E series from 2005, and it is running XP SP3. I have no problems with it presently, except that Dell tells me that I can't exceed the present 2 GB of RAM, and I"m about to buy a huge second external HD for it, for less than a hundred dollars, which could probably fit my mp3, digital photo, and document needs until " forever". My present external HD, only 115 GB, is presently full, and the internal HD is 70 GB (2005 vintage). This is a home and secondary home office computer, so it is used and has always been used for "Mainstream" purposes, such as email, office documents, internet. My first inkling of it being slightly limited was that the largest 16:9 new monitor I could buy for it was 19". Before I buy another external HD, I was just wondering what readers here thought about how much longer this 5 year old machine could "last"...and whether the 2 GB of RAM is such a loser that it's best to start looking around for a replacement....
