Not Enough Information...

Make and model of PC. Laptop or desktop? Type of mouse and keyboard, USB, PS2, etc.? Did these items work before? Or are they brand new? Windows 10 automatically updates certain drivers, ( unless you disable such driver updates) and rolling back the driver updates in Device Manager might help..

If you're using a USB style mouse and keyboard, and please recognize I'm just checking here.... Have you changed the batteries lately? If not, please do. Made sure both mouse and keyboard are turned ON? If you start the computer in Safe Mode, do the devices work now?

Sometimes the BIOS needs to have "Legacy" USB options enabled for mouse and keyboard to function. I'll recommend testing everything with a PS2 style mouse and keyboard to verify everything and do make sure that drivers are correctly installed in Device Manager.

Hope this helps and let us know more.

***THIS IS THE FIX*** The last Windows update is the proble
Feb 28, 2018 7:18AM PST

After spending 5 or 6 hours between 2 different computers at work trying to fix this problem and having our outside IT guy tell me the only way to fix was to reinstall Windows, Microsoft finally released a solution. This problem is being caused by the February 13, 2018 update (KB407458Cool and uninstalling the update immediately fixes the problem. Here is Microsoft's link with directions:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4091240/usb-devices-may-stop-working-after-installing-the-february-13-2018-upd

If you have a mouse that still works like I did, you can also uninstall the update by going to Settings > Update and Security > View installed update history > Uninstall updates > then find "Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB4074588)" and uninstall it.

I really hope people find this solution before spending hours doing all of the things people are recommending in other posts that are ultimately a complete waste of time.

Again a reminder to not let Windows update drivers.

This is going to test users too much I fear. Most are using Windows like a toaster.
