"A lot of partitions", that's strange. Probably you mean something else.
All you can do yourself, I'm afraid is a repair install from your Windows XP CD. http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm tells how to do it. I don't know if consider that an easy fix to do yourself.
When bringing your PC to the tech, just install your business programs on your laptop and restore your business data there from your latest backup so you can continue with your business while he repairs it or until your new PC is ready for use.

My PC will not boot passed the Windows XP page on start up. It just suddenly did this one morning when I went to turn it on a couple of weeks ago.
I have managed ok with my laptop but it has all of my business accounts etc on it & really need to get back into it asap.
I also can not get it to start in any of the safe modes or last known good configuration.
When trying to start from command prompt (to perform chkdsk) I get alot of partitions but no command prompt.
Please help, I am not very technically inclined is this a problem I need a technician for or is there an easy fix to get me back in??
Thanks advance for any help
